Direct Repair Program That Failed A Customer

Direct Repair Program – What Is It?

The automotive industry has a ton of acronyms and DRP is just one of them.  What is a DRP?  A DRP is short for direct repair program.  It is a relationship between an insurance company and an auto body shop.  This program was designed to make it easier for customers who are dealing automotive damage in some way.  Your insurance agent works with you and your claim and then provides suggestions of auto body shops to you.  This can be beneficial in some cases but in others not so much.

You have the right to choose where you take your vehicle.  Let’s say that again: You Have The Right To Choose Where You Take Your Vehicle!  As a consumer you will want to do your research. There are many insurance agents and auto body shops who have top notch service and are looking out for you as the consumer.  But unfortunately there are also those who are not looking out for your best interests.

Direct Repair Program – Education

It is to your advantage to fully educate yourself about what a Direct Repair Program (DRP) is.  Other phrases that may come up in your conversations are ones like “diminished value claim” and “total loss claim“.  Your insurance agent should be ready to help explain the lingo to you.

Caution: If it appears that the insurance claim is being processed in a rushed format…beware!

As we mentioned, there are the good guys and the bad guys out there.  So it pays to be educated on the process.  Make sure you check out an auto body shop’s Google, Facebook, Yelp, or any other applicable review sites.  Simply type “XYZ Body Shop reviews” into a Google search and you will receive plenty of information.

At Collision Safety Consultant, we take pride in being a ‘Customer Centric‘ company.  We’re South Louisiana local.  Give us a call today to help you with your diminished value or total loss claim.

Video Transcript – Direct Repair Program Customer Failure

Hello everyone! This is Vera with Collision Safety Consultants, coming to you with another recent victory update: Alexza, expectant mother of two came to us in dire need of assistance. Her SUV was repaired poorly at a direct repair program (DRP) shop.

She could tell, even with her untrained eye that several things were wrong. When she called her adjuster to complain, he refused to acknowledge a problem and accused her of causing the damage herself.

The insurance company had a written satisfaction guarantee but still refused to make her SUV right and safe to drive. She hired us to inspect the repairs and it was obvious that several things needed to be corrected as well as hidden items that were never addressed with the initial repair.

Our argument to the insurance company was that the cost of these corrective repairs would more than meet the threshold for totaling the vehicle.

They pushed back of course, but in the end her car was totaled and she got a fair price for it. Now her growing family will ride in another safe vehicle. We were proud to be a part of the positive outcome on this claim.

Please, if you are fighting an insurance company and are getting nowhere, call us with your story. We just might be able to help.
